我国尖晶石采用烧结法和电容法两种生产工艺。原料主要菱镁矿和工业氧化铝粉或铝矾土。按氧化镁和氧化铝的指标不通，分富镁尖晶石和富铝尖晶石并应用不同领域。

电熔镁铝尖晶石具有耐高温、体密大、吸水率低、热膨胀系数小、热稳定性好、抗侵蚀能力强的特点。是制造铸滑板、水口砖、钢包亲砖和平炉炉砖的理想材料，也是大型水泥窑、中型水泥窑过渡带、耐火浇注料及高中窑具用的基本原料。广泛应用于钢铁冶炼、水泥回转窑及玻璃工业窑炉上。
运输与装卸：在运输过程中，不得用铁钩拖拽，应防止与坚硬物质混装，不可强烈振动、磨擦、踩、 砸，严禁抛掷，应轻装轻卸，以减少包装破碎，影响使用。
